Window Ruler - A Free Application to Measure Anything on Your Screen
A free application to measure objects on your screen
The Window Ruler is a software utility that displays an image of a traditional ruler to allow you to take accurate pixel measurements of anything on the screen or website. It can also be magnified up to four times to help you identify the size of objects such as windows, icons and pictures.
There are multiple ways to use this app including using the mouse wheel or the keyboard buttons. You can even set a ruler to always be visible so that you can easily make accurate measurements of the area around a window or object.
Its interface is easy to understand and use, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a simple and reliable tool to assist with measuring the size of items on their computer screens. It is also free to use and does not write to your computer's registry.
You can select the area that you want to measure and note its horizontal and vertical measurements in pixels by dragging your mouse or trackpad around it. The selected area will remain active until you cancel the selection, which you can do by pressing the X key or clicking the Screen Ruler toolbar.
Several different measurement types can be chosen from the toolbar: Bounds (dashed square symbol) measures horizontal and vertical spacing, Spacing (+) will show the height & width of a rectangle or a square, and Coordinates will display the coordinates values for the selected object in both directions.
